Renewable Energy
We have been working in the renewable energy sector for a number of years for both developers and landowners in relation to projects involving wind energy; biomass combined heat and power and pumped hydroelectric storage. The Government’s mandatory requirement that 40% of electricity consumed in Ireland must come from sustainable energy by 2020 is a key driver for the sector. From our experience with our clients to date we have developed a practical understanding of the businesses involved in the sector and the legal issues associated with their activities. We are associate members of Meitheal na Gaoithe.
If you are a project developer, we understand the process involved in assembling a project and can advise you on all aspects of the project from acquiring land options, negotiating leases and wayleaves, obtaining planning permission and grid connections, through to finance, development, construction and commissioning with the benefit of practical understanding and experience in the area.
If you are a landowner considering entering into negotiations with a project developer or considering how best to maximize the potential of your land, we can apply our practical experience of the sector and our awareness of the specialist legal issues associated with it to advise you on getting the best deal from your property.
Examples of some of the current projects we are involved in are as follows:
- 13.8MW Wind: Munster
- 9.9MW Wind: Munster
- 50MW Pumped Hydro Electric Storage: Munster
- 18MW Biomass: Leinster.
