FACEBOOK GETS THE FINGER OUT WHEN FACED WITH A DATE IN COURT!

JP McManus’s injunction application against Facebook came to an abrupt end this morning, when the case was struck out as the offending profiles had been taken down by Facebook in the meantime.

It’s amazing how resourceful those people in customer support can be when facing a date in the High Court. Round one to JP!

The main proceedings for damages for breach of privacy etc. will fall to be considered another day, that is if that aspect of the matter is pursued now that the main issue of the removal of the profiles has been addressed. If it does, I’ll be keeping you posted.

That just leaves the matter of…*ahem*…costs. I’m sure JP’s lawyers will have written a nice letter before all this started which could leave Facebook picking up the tab for not doing what they should have done before all of this unpleasantness became necessary.   I’m sure Zuck will cope!
